Bob Carr's Biography

I am a native of Orlando, and, from my family's home in Rowena Gardens
to my own home in College Park, I have lived 45 of my 52 years in
District Three. I attended Fern Creek and graduated from Edgewater,
where my boys, Brendan and Michael, now march in the Eagle Band. Their
mother, DeAnn, and I will be celebrating out 20th wedding anniversary
in July 2006.

I hold a B.A. from Vanderbilt University and in 2003 received an M.A.
from U.C.F. I am a certified teacher, presently conducting Literature
and Psychology classes in grades nine through twelve at Avalon School
in north Orlando. I am also a member of Edgewater S.A.C. and the
Edgewater Task Force: The future of my alma mater is as important to
me as it is critical for the District.

Growing up up well-versed in city government, I accompanied my father,
Mayor Bob Carr, on League of Cities conventions and local civic events.
I counted city commissioners, department heads and police and fire
chiefs among my acquaintances. More recently, I have run for County
Commission, in 2004 winning six of the nine precincts that Orlando's
District Three shares with the county. In the process, I have
established positive relationships in Orange County government and been
appointed to county boards by two consecutive county commissioners.
Orange County Commissioner Bill Segal has honored me with his support
in my present City Council bid.
